Strain on the Brain

Midweek... and I am absolutely exhausted.

My three day photography exam is officially over, but my over due physically-impossible-want-to-kill-myself philosophy essay is in for Friday!!! BOO!!! Non stop and i'm suffering. This week has been utter madness thanks to my most unfortunate trait... a crap memory. During this week alone I have forgotten:
  • My best friend's birthday
  • & her birthday sunday lunch ;(
  • My laptop charger
  • My packed lunch
  • My purse
  • To pick up my cousin on the way to school :o
  • Two darkroom prints which I never got to put into my exam book!! DARN
Most of these things relate to school in one way or another. It seems that as soon as school gets a little stressful, my poor brain can't take the strain and gives up on remembering. I'm not too worried about forgetting the odd thing, but when it makes people angry at me!!! (two major occasions on that list) it's horrible. I suppose I will just have to put up with my auntie's patronising morning list (phone? yes. money? yes. lunch? yes. brain? urrr YES)...for now.

or I could just pray like crazy to St Christopher!!! (a metaphysical man who helps you find things like mobile phones, car keys and shoes)

I'd thought I'd end this ranting with my final exam pieces which will be blown up biiig!

et voila.
I hope your week hasn't been as stress ridden as mine!

The Beginning of the End

Back to school this week with only 27 days left on the calendar before school finishes... for GOOD. Can't believe it!! It's the beginning of the end! Today (my first day back) was a grand day! Not only was I able to show off all the coursework I've managed to do over Easter, but I'm feeling good because it's not just me who has stupidly left all of their exam work until now.. 5 days before the exam. Mmmmmmm. Saying this, I went on such a fun photoshoot today with my friends Emma and Katie. Katie, who is frikin hilarious and never serious was an absolute nightmare at getting to keep a straight, model-like face!!! aaahhh it was Hard (and equally hilarious) but we did it and I got some pretty sweet shots.

Have a peek...

I Hope you enjoyed those! I feel pretty proud of them and very proud of Katie for looking so damn beautiful in black and white (and in colour of course)! Other good news today was that I got my failure of an english exam remarked and it came back two marks up!!! HURRRAAHHH!!!! Seriously great times!! From a D to a C combined with 3 A's makes an A overall for my English A Level!!! :D So happy, what a relief.

Photograph Frenzy

I have got so much done this week on the work front!! & on top of that, I've still managed to fit in some fun times along the way. HURRAH!! Last week was spent taking 1000's of photographs to cram into my coursework book... I'm in mid cutting, sticking and analysing at the moment but something terrifying dawned on me today... I go back to school next tuesday and the following week is my PHOTOGRAPHY EXAM which is the equivalent to an entire coursework book.
I haven't begun this yet.
OOOGAAAAD.
Here are a few snaps I've taken this week in the sunny isle of Jersey:

I'm loving the classic mirror photo going on here!
LOL the last 3 of James scoffing down some delicious flowers?!
Although good times have been had this week, there is something that's been bothering me. At the moment, all I seem to be doing is sticking my foot in places I shouldn't. I get myself too involved in my friend's love lives and meddle about with them!! I keep chatting to ex lovers and finding out too many secrets which I can't bear to keep! I need to stop being so damn nosy and just deal with my own rubbish issues! haha. I guess it's just easier to deal with other people's mess rather than your own, huh.

'Meow Meow, Just Say Neigh!!'

This Easter, the sister and I went to MONT GAVEY for some lunch and some Easter fun. Lunch... yummy. Desert... interesting... different... special? mmmm... okay... it was horrifying!
This bowl of brown, lumpy pudding doesn't bare yummy chocolate cake underneath, but bares something pretending to be rice pudding!!!! EUrgh!!!! I think the family conversation went something like this:

'soo... mum... what's this loverly desert then?'
'summer fruits rice pudding!!! delish, who wants a bowl?'
'WHAT, so that's not chocolate???'
'no, summer fruits'
'but... why is it brown.......?'

(meanwhile I discover that there is dried skin on the top and begin backing away in fear)
Marks and Sparks to the rescue!!!!

Thank the lord the mother had a backup. Although she shook her head in denial, it was obvious that she foresaw our morbid reactions to the inedible pudding of doom and took a trip to the supermarket of love and joy. This cake was delish.

After lunch, the sister and I made an easter egg hunt for Talluah, (who's my mother's boyfriend's daughter). She's only 14 and just so happens to be adorable so why not?
We tried to be as inventive as we could with our clues, raising issues from drug abuse, 'MEOW MEOW, JUST SAY NEIGH!!!' to subtle digs at the mother, 'BACK TO THE FARM....GOT HAM??' - seeing as last week she sent her pigs to the slaughter house and has their meat stored in a gigantic fridge freezer!!! That said, the hunt was fun!!! and really, really tiring, a weeks worth of exercise I reckon...

...but, being tired didn't stop me from getting absolutely 'slaughtered' that night at my friend's coach party (another good joke from me!). This was a sunday night so I'm pretty pleased with myself... I'm hardcore. Here is a collection of photos I took that night.
The dress code was - go as you like. Apparently people like dressing up as Pamela Anderson, Edward Scissor hands, Pirates and (when you don't dress up as anything) putting a pretty bow on one's head. This night went from mediocre to the best night I've had in a LONG time!! It was a pub crawl so we were going from pub to pub and drinking more and more. There wasn't that many people on the coach (not that many people are as hardcore as us) but the people that were there were amazing. Good times all round.

Hope you all had a fab Easter too!

MONT GAVEY

Even though, of course, I have been working extremely hard this week following the bad report disaster... I have made room for some naughty chocolate, easter egg, coach party fun... and I don't regret it one bit!

Seeing as I have already mentioned the mother's farm that is MONT GAVEY (sounds epic doesn't it?) I thought that it was about time you saw for yourselves the farm of chaos!
You see here mother's prized possessions that are the chickens!! This one was taken at dinner time and you can see one seemingly jealous cock making a fuss. They are organic and their eggs are simply divine, bright yellow. She's tried to sell them on a local Jersey site but it was a lost cause so somehow ended up flogging them off to her piano teacher who gives them to her entire family! Pretty nice. The photo below is of the newest member of the clan, Clyde. I have to admit, I'm not a pony lover... one might even say I was even a little scared of horses... but not Clyde, Clyde's gorgeous!!! He's turned me.

It's a Bad Report

RIGHT, a two week holiday doesn't allude to a week of relaxation... apparently. I got my school report today... aaaaand basically, to sum up, i've had a slightly disappointing term both in results and attitude to work. NICE. Adults aren't best pleased and their faces showed signs of horror when they finally discovered the amount of photography i've left to do at the last minute, classic result of dossing about in the sixth form centre rather than doing any coursework... BUT NO FEAR. English coursework - IN. Photography personal investigation - IN (so what if I was a few weeks over deadline)... NOW, it's the coursework book and the EXAM book which needs to occupy my full attention this Easter. I've not even started my coursework (which is supposed to be done gradually throughout the year), although I did take some snaps in Bath, the last time I went to visit the boyfriend at uni...

I had a full day to wonder the town of Bath with a Pentax, 35mm film camera. These are just a few of my favourites. I literally spent 5 hours in the school dark room, learning how to develop my photos and tirelessly redoing the ones which I couldn't get to come out. I stunk of chemicals by the end of the day and I nearly got locked in the art department! I didn't realise they closed the school at 5... oooops! After all that though, the photos were lovely! I'm so pleased with them, they should make a nice beginning to my coursework book which is yet to be filled........ wish me luck.
