Another Milestone

Results.
You heard.
You want to know what I got?
Am I happy?
Am I pathetically weeping at I type?
Did I get into University?
Ok Ok Ok
I shall tell you...

I am seriously happy!!!
I got into Edinburgh!
And I outdid my estimations by... A LOT.
I managed to get,
Photography - A* (full marks for the entire A Level) (Go Girl)
English - A (turns out my disaster of a RE-TAKE wasn't a disaster after all)
Philosophy - B (By this time, I was weeping into my certificates)

So yer...
pretty cool.

HAHAH I'm ecstatic!!!!!
Such a load of my mind I can't tell you!
I definitely shed a tear of surprise/shire happiness as I realised the grades.
(the actual certificates are so damn hard to read)
Plus the English certificate which told me my grade
was actually put into my cousin, Georgina Sutton's envelope
My school is shocking.

I would be blabbering on about how wasted I'm planning on becoming this weekend.
But alas,
I
have
tonsillitis.
As does my boyfriend,
Peter.
Quite hilarious really
if you think about it.
But also infuriating
if you think about it more!

I'm getting carried away, I can feel it.

Happy Blogging everyone
(Hope the people who got results yesterday are happy and smiling)

Ok, so it's a Filing Job...

What i'll remember about this summer:

Exams
End of School
Peter
Sunshine
Friends
Thai
Sea
Work
Work
Work

Work... man oh man.
Adolescence is hard to hold on to.
I miss the days when all I had to do was rely on my parents.
Nowadays one has to rely on themselves.
Got to get a job, got to make money, got to buy your own ticket.
In a lot of ways it's better; the independence, the feeling when you receive that first pay check.
In others ways it's just like...

'GOD DAMN,
WHY WON'T SOMEBODY ELSE JUST PAY FOR IT'

But right now, I'm feeling gooood!!!!!
I have just secured a job from September to December!
Ok, so it's a filing job..
Ok, so i'll be bored out of my mind for 4 months..
But fuck, I am going travelling for 6 months next year!!!!
Travel date: 26th of December.

aAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaH!

You need to meet the travelling ladies,
some of which you might recognise already..

Daisy
Katie
Tiffany

& Jess
India
Thailand
Vietnam
Laos
Cambodia
Malaysia
Indonesia
Australia

- some of the places we're throwing around right now.

December 2010 - July 2011

I think that'll be a summer I remember!

Long Time No Speak

Hey

I'm doubting people have even noticed my absence from the bloggosphere (although I'd like to imagine people have missed me) but still, I have been feeling really quite guilty about leaving my blog alone for this long. Very strange... I didn't realise how much I actually use this thing.. how much I like to blog/think about blogging/stalk other blogs etc etc, until I had no time to do any of those things this past week!

It has been amazing!!
My first week of freedom that is..

Just so you know, my exams..... meh... they went OK.. not bad.. alright.. could have been worst/better (you know the drill) but I have dispelled the dreaded thought of that little piece of paper (which has the potential power to fuck everything up) from my mind and I am just going about my days, sporting a carefree mind.

There is much to tell, many photographs to share, gossip to vent! But for now, I shall update you with the latest -
My Leaver's Ball.

The name is pretty much self explanatory, it was a ball for those who are leaving school (like me) which joyfully cost 50 squids and consisted of 'free' wine, mediocre food, gowns, gleeful chat and shameful dancing. Overall, the night was hilarious and so much fun!
I had such a 'ball'.
(I know you love my jokes)

Now, I could rant for Britain with all that has gone on this week, but I think it's safest to save my gossip for another (preferably rainy) day. Here are my favourite photos taken from Friday night. A small summary of the event you could say....
You have here some of the gals, looking gorgeous at Tiffany's house before the ball.
You have here cousin G unit and mee! My dress was bought about 4 hours before this photograph was taken! That's right.. it is a drastic dress. It turns out the dress I had bought off ASOS a week beforehand decided not to show up - cue PANIC STATIONS and even a few tears. But it all turned out fine! I prefer that dress actually! It's from French Connection (my favourite shop) and, even though the length was madness, It was so lovely to wear.
Freeman and Tom
(he wasn't going to the ball, incase you were questioning his attire)
Yup, there's me, cheekily (drunkenly) posing for the camera.
Girls go Beige
My date, Willy Wonka and I
(he got head butted and his nose is now wonky, although he is adamant that this is not the case)
His is sometimes called Willoughby and he is just my friend - for the record.
I've cut the meal photographs and got straight to the good stuff - the dancing.
Oooooo the dancing. I wish I could dance like this every night.
S Club 7 never gets old.
A bit out of place eh?
After the ball, we all headed back to Tiffany's for the 'after party' and made full use of her lovely pull and hot tub!
This is the hilarious part of the evening, Freeman and I laughed more than usual.
I put this one on just to affirm my drunken state.
All the signs are there, run mascara, eyes closed, idiotic smiles and beer in hot tub....
classic.
After sleeping on the conservatory floor, a good stretch and bounce on the trampoline was crucial.

I am so happy to be posting! :)
Please take note of that 'smile'... It is a rare thing that I 'smile' on here...
I'm just so happy okay!

Anyway, I'm off to go watch the tennis final.

But it's good to be back (whata drama queen)

Happy Blogging!

Think, India, THINK

So, here it is...

My last ever school exam.

2.00pm.

I am so nervous, I just sort of sit here in perpetual horror.

What if I sit in the exam thinking, 'say whaaaat???'

What if I write a whole load of philosophical crap?

What if I fail?

What if I don't get into uni?

okokokok, panic stations.

I should be fine.

I can DO this.

As long as I've got my thinking cap on.

Dear Lord!

It really is time to

Wish me Luck

A Bribe Breakfast

Muck Up Day - The day when one is aloud to go into their school of 7 years and
'muck it up'.

This usually involves a theme... loo roll... face paint... water bombs... upside down tables and chairs... tampons and condoms hung precariously/inappropriately on things... holding signs saying 'honk if you're horny' by the school road... etc etc. It's pretty special. If you had the chance to muck up your school, you'd take it wouldn't you?... Well, we didn't. Nope. Do you know what our headmaster did? Bribed us... with a full English Breakfast at one of the best beach restaurants in Jersey. And we gave in without deliberation.

Cumon, I mean, we'd finish school, get monstrously drunk (you saw the previous post) and then du duuuuh, a beautiful, free breakfast prepared for us to eat the next morning! (you know how I feel about hang over breakfasts) What could be better??? We estimated that £700 quid was spent on us that morning, what a bribe! We would have been fools not to go for it.
Here's the bribe breakfast, not in all its glory, unfortunately (I had eaten a lot by this point)
This lovely lady, Lucy, brought a cake for the ENTIRE year to eat, bless her.
Year 13, 2010 - (minus me, dammit)
Three of my best friends, (the can of coke and the yellow ribbon represent two of our other best friends who had an exam that morning and missed bribe breakfast, how mean is that!)

I don't think I have many readers who are in the same position as I am, but I'm sure everyone's been through this process of leaving... it brings out such contradictions... sadness, excitement, nostalgia, looking to the future, loss, gain.... I don't really know how to feel or what to think.

But all I know is that I have left and there ain't noo turning back! HURRAH!
Bring on Chapter... 3?

A Night to Celebrate

So, I can now say that school is officially over.

I went in for my last ever philosophy and english lessons, bid my teachers fare well, chatted for hours with fellow classmates and ate so much cake and chocolate, I could have imploded. 14 years of schooling have come to an end. It's a surreal thought.. the end of a lifestyle, the end of an ERA! What will happen to me next??

As you can imagine, this was a great cause for celebration and my oh my... did we celebrate! Everybody had gone mad, itching with excitement and gulping down their drinks like they had been thirsty for years.. 12 bottles of wine and 6 bottles of vodka between 14 of us, now that's just plain unhealthy.

The atmosphere was electric, my entire year was out and everybody was off their trolleys (well, at least from a drunk perspective, everybody seemed to be off their trolleys..) My night consisted of major socialising, shots, the game, 'have you ever' (which becomes so shameful after a few rounds), dancing and most importantly, a trip to the chip shop.
(permitted only when drunk and in serious need of sobering up)

I was in serious need.

You'll know what I mean...
(the only photo of me looking slightly normal and sober-ish)
Nodding.
(you can always tell i'm drunk when I put on this stupid, serious, wide eyed expression)

The best and only night out I'll be having for a while...

And now back to the books =(

ALL HAIL Study Leave!

Bonjourno!

Study Leave - fundamentally the greatest thing ever invented by humanity!!!

Waking up at 10, lazing around in the sunshine, swimming in the sea, taking a dip in the pool, going solo with my notes... it's as though i've died in school and gone to study leave heaven! I love study leave! I pretty much love revising... only because it's fun to know and understand things, (don't you find?) it means I won't keel over with fear before entering that exam room.

But truth be told, I haven't been doing that much revision... I just need a break!! Okay, my exams are in 2 weeks, but this week I thought I'd take a chill pill, enjoy that happy vitamin D and get a bit of a tan going. Of course, I tell my family that 'I can work so much better in the sunshine'... but this is in fact FALSE.
  1. The white page makes my eyes squint, water and inevitably close.. reading becomes difficult.
  2. Suncream somehow manages to move from my nose and into my eyes.. reading becomes impossible.
  3. My auntie makes me wear a hat :( I feel generally uncool.
  4. She also makes me wear really uncool sun glasses (although these uncool items have vastly helped me with the reading..)
  5. The wind is my enemy.
I think i'll try and work inside over the next couple of weeks... it's probably for the best.

Happy revising all!

Bad Repuation

Friday - My last official day of school! Though.. It wasn't really my last official day of school... they brought on study leave a week early but I still need to go into school next week, so i'm not gunna cry about it. (perhaps i'm just in denial)

Friday night - It was my friend, Pip's 18th birthday party, just a small crowd of about 50 people (although there was a marquee, buffet and free bar). I had to work Saturday morning so I resisted the free bar and the coach to town and drove home at half 11, very damaging for my reputation.
The buffet was frikin awesome
That's Daisy, I've mentioned her before
Things got a little crazy in the marquee...
...So we moved the craziness outside.
Saturday - WORK WORK WORK. I had to go into work in the morning from 9 − 12 and then I had to go BACK AGAIN from 4 − 6.30. It was such a gorgeous day and I work in a duty free 'cave' at the harbour, dealing with French people shouting at me as I stare blankly at them saying 'je suis desole!!!'. (My rep seriously plummeting)

Saturday night - Emma's 18th! I escaped work and had 15 minutes to get ready. (I was an HOUR late). Em hosted a dinner party and we all ate yummy tai green curry and more birthday cupcakes (I told you, they are so IN right now). We got a little coach into town and we boogied away... it was so much fun and I was having a ball... until something extremely unfortunate happened. Who happened to turn up to the same club at the same time? T and L... I did my best to avoid any conflicts, but this meant just leaving my friends.. going home.. alone.. passing out on the sofa and feeling pretty sorry for myself. But you know, it could have been worst.
Saturday night
wahoooo Celebrations
At the end of the night (note the anxious look on my face)

I hope it won't be like this every weekend for the rest of the summer!!!
& I hope you all had a lovely weekend, free from work and anxiety.

HURRAH

The coursework has been completed.
This will be the very first weekend i've had which doesn't consist of me editing, cutting, sticking and slaving over tedious analysis of pretty shitty photographs (in all honesty). HURRUH!! Coursework, personal investigation, exam work... it's all been handed in and I couldn't be more relieved!!! The situation may sound sublime but now that Photography A Level is officially over, the time has come to concentrate on the more testing things in life... philosophical theories on morality and mind numbing 18th century Blake (whom I despise with a passion). Sigh.

Anyhow, I think that (now more than ever) I have an appropriate opportunity to blog my most favourite photographer and HERO - Martin Parr (no, not Arnold Schwarzenegger, the guy next to him). A genius who takes brilliant photographs, which, to put bluntly (something I can't do in my coursework book) takes the fucking piss out of everybody he sees and I love it/him. His photography is brutal and honest, saturated with brash and lurid colours that make you squint. I find when I go out and take photos, I have this urge to find something funny, ironic or just plain priceless to photograph and this is probably thanks to Parr. Be inspired...
These photographs come from www.magnumphotos.com. Check it out! The website is run by a society of the greatest photographers ever known... it's epic.
