Morphine Induced Cloud

This weekend has been like no other. There were no parties, no trips to town, no lie ins, no hang over breakfasts... One of my best friends, Lauren, was sent to hospital last week. Loz has Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes defects in the lungs and the digestive system. It wasn't until we were at the hospital, about to enter the Bear's room, when her mum said, 'now, try not to get upset when you see her' with tears in her own eyes, did I take in the seriousness of it all. From being completely optimistic and light hearted, I broke down and was sent to the waiting room where I saw family members I'd never met before, like her uncle who lives in the Caribbean. Suddenly it became clear that this wasn't Loz's usual hospital 'pop in, pop out'.
Over the weekend we've gone through ups and downs. Hearing the words 'days left' is enough to let you plummet into a dark hole you can't scratch your way out of. But hearing the Bear giggle is enough to sit you on a morphine induced cloud for an hour. It's shock, it's regret, it's hope, it's desperation. From friday onwards, we've stayed together. Jordanna flew back from uni, Tiff came back from skiing, we've spent every waking hour in each other's company, too scared to eat or sleep alone. We've pulled out our home-made cards and poems Lauren made for us, wore T shirts she bought for us... recalled those times she got too pissed at so and so's party. Only tonight, Tuesday night, did I take the plunge and drive home to be by myself. And surprisingly, it's quite nice. Other than in the shower, I've not had time to think. In the past 5 days I've seen Lauren, I've sobbed, I've cuddled, I've stared into space, I've drunk T, I've eaten eggs and bacon for dinner. I've needed and enjoyed my friend's company. But it was nice to crash out on my own, have a cry and sort my mind out.

I am looking forward to sleep.

It's a Means to an End

Life on the rock is surreal.
It's surreal because despite the fact a great deal of my friends
have gone,
I am having the best time with the few friends
...I have left.

I was wrong to think I would be bored, lonely
and left with nothing to do...

on the contrary!
I AM SO BUSY I NEVER HAVE TIME TO MYSELF
(explains why blogging this month has been at its minimum)
I'm not going to put this right in riddles...
I think the time has come for some
classy bullet points.

See, what happens is... I

1. meet Annie and Daisy everyday for lunch at the post office, 1.30 sharp.

2. have midweek sleepovers, eating shitty £1 pizzas from Iceland.
(Apparently they freeze their food for YEARS and because of inflation sell it off with a little proffit - bastards)

3. try to make it to the gym at least twice a week

4. get the (fucking) bus twice a day, 5 days a week

5. get ridiculously ruined on friday night

6. sober up with X factor and a 'gurls night in' on saturday night

7. still cook a killer sunday fry up

8. work 8.45am - 5pm, monday - friday

9. file
(today was epic as I got to pick staples out of paper and then scan the paper onto a computer)

10. don't actually hate my job,
but I certainly don't want to be a 'filing clerk' for the rest of my days.

It's a means to an end.

There are other things I need to catch up on
Birthdays, Halloween...
but for now
all you're getting is

'random drunk times'
Enjoy.

beautiful emma, beautiful dress

and beautiful nails

Looking for the party

...These guys showed us the way

Annie LAW left Liverpool for the weekend and came home

Lizard Channel

Not so sober after dinner with the work collegues.

(after dinner with the work collegues I may have snogged a 16 year old unknowingly - yes, I did just say snogged - I may have winked at a man I decided was called Paolo and I may have woken up in the morning wondering how the hell I got home...)

Great night.

Happy blogging!

p.s. I don't have a taste for minors, I promise!!

Square

I feel
that since this is a blog I use to document my life's events,
I should tell you all about my work.
What it is that I do...
How I feel about it
etc etc.

If I hadn't been verbally and physically abused every time the word
FILING
came out of my mouth tonight,
maybe I would have.
But I don't want you to hate me too...

So instead I shall update you on a few of the fun things in life.
Site Seeing.. at home.
The day before P left, we went to ye old Gorey Castle and took a look around.
Was nice.
Then P left
and Jersey Live happened.
Pre drinking at 12pm
leads to bad things
and great things.

That classic annual photograph
A not so classic photo, love it
Trendy
Quick and the Dead
Groooooove Amarda
(fuck, they're amazing)
Was a good weekend.
It was also the catalyst to one of the most depressive weeks I've ever known
but life has fixed itself a little since then.

Now, I know you're wondering about the square photos.
Photobucket and I have had a falling out...
(you must have noted the lack of photos in the rest of my blog)
that means no more beautiful rounded edges.
No more charm.

I'll get over it soon
and my fun lovin' side should return.
But 'till then,

Chao,
Happy Blogging

One Can Only Imagine

The boy left for uni saturday morning.
Tomorrow, sister leaves for uni abroad.
Friends are heading their separate ways over the next few weeks.
Weather's shit.
Full time job just around the corner.
And the worst of it is..
argh
it is literally painful to type..
my camera is broken.

I'm feeling deflated and so sad.

I think it's the anti-climax.
Jersey Live - that festival I mentioned a while ago?
well it was this weekend
and it was awesome
(despite somebody pouring vodka on my camera)
but it's over now
time for people to move on.

But I don't want summer to end and people to leave!
I know there's lots of new beginnings
(i'm sure I can scrape together some money to get the cam fixed
or buy a new one?)
but still...
nobody
likes
change
(I have a special bond with that inappropriately big camera)

Sigh,
it's going to be a long night.
In my desperate attempt to cheer up
I went rummaging through my Iphoto
and found these bad boys
from a party I went to last year.

And now i'm thinking to myself...

'Nothing i'm feeling now could match how these guys must have felt when they took that first glimpse of realisation
trying to figure out
where they are
and what the fuck they're doing on the floor
or why they might be holding several thousand beer bottles
or even why they are looking like a lady
or maybe even why there is a boot on the face.'

One can only imagine......
Or not?
I have been backwards and forward on whether to show this to you or not..
but here it is.
(Yes, that is brioche i'm clutching in my fist)
(and Yes, I did pass out at 10pm)
(and finally Yes, I did get up at 6am to take photos of the unconscious,
making it out as though I had been apart of the amazing night)

It's strange how much happier I feel.
hehehe

Happy Blogging

Festival Festivities

Yesssss, finally some festival festivities for me to indulge in.
Grassroots is only a small Jersey eco-friendly festival
that presents this cool,
'peace-out man' sort of vibe
with the reggae, acoustic, famous and non famous bands they get to play there.
The venue is small but the lineup was SO huge!
Jose Gonzales
Natty
Bedouin Soundclash
It was amazing!!!
Jersey really outdid themselves this year.
Being stuck on this isle all summer hasn't exactly been... exhilarating
but I have to admit, things like this are worth the 40 quid.
It was so much fun, far more chilled out than most festivals
so I just totted around bumping into people all day and night...
Freeman and Tiff decided to take a nap...
A classic side effect of drinking before 3pm.
The couple in the back were stoned off their faces
and the looks that my friends got were pretty hilarious
hahah stoners, gotta love em.
2 weeks - JERSEY LIVE 2010
Can't wait.
Happy Blogging people
